dual-wifi not working on ACEPC T11

Post by lexlexli »

Hello all,

I've been reading through this forum and have seen other people successfully install linux mint onto an acepc t11 device and have their wifi working. However I'm still at a huge loss.

I put ubuntu 18.04 server onto a bootable usb, then installed it onto my ACEPC T11.

From there:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo aptautoremove
Then I issue a

Code: Select all

sudo reboot now
I've followed the suggestion to do the following:

Code: Select all

wget https://github.com/khadas/android_hardware_amlogic_wifi/raw/b6709758755568e4a0ff6e80993be0fc64c77fb9/bcm_ampak/config/6255/nvram.txt
sudo cp nvram.txt /lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio.txt
I had to run a 'sudo' before the weget in order to get the nvram.txt file

I still have no luck. when I run an ifconfig, I see no networks.

Please help!! I know this question has been asked before but I'm willing to change my ubuntu install on this machine. T_T I feel like I've followed others who have asked this question but I have no such luck. Thank you all so much.

Unless I'm missing something, I see no wifi adapter present. Anyway, you should try Mint 20.01 on that newer machine.

Yeah, it's so strange why it's not appearing. I've gotten a host wifi working on this machine before with this setup:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install dkms bc git
git clone https://github.com/brektrou/rtl8821CU.git
cd rtl8821CU
sudo ./dkms-install.sh
I actually got the first piece of code to work a few days ago but was unable to replicate the process of getting it to work again.

I will install Linux Mint and attempt again. Will update in this thread. Thank you sleeper12!

That wifi might be a built-in chip. Try this, one line at a time:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
sudo apt install build-essential git dkms
git clone https://github.com/brektrou/rtl8821CU.git
cd rtl8821CU
chmod +x dkms-install.sh
sudo ./dkms-install.sh
sudo modprobe 8821cu

Re: dual-wifi not working on ACEPC T11

Post by sleeper12 »

Ok, shooting in the dark here, but see if either of these work:

Code: Select all

sudo cp /lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac43430-sdio.AP6212.txt /lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac43430a0-sdio.txt
Reboot

Code: Select all

wget https://github.com/khadas/android_hardware_amlogic_wifi/raw/b6709758755568e4a0ff6e80993be0fc64c77fb9/bcm_ampak/config/6255/nvram.txt
sudo cp nvram.txt /lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio.txt
Reboot

I don't know if it will work, but you can try it. Maybe the newer kernel in Mint 20.1 will solve the problem.

cd rtl8821CU
chmod +x dkms-install.sh
