Unable to connect to VPN on Mint 20.1 laptop

Post by SmokeRings »

Wasn't sure where to put this since I didn't see a new thread button in networking.

I got my boyfriend into Mint and he set it up on his laptop. It worked perfectly until it stopped connecting online on wifi or ethernet. Sometimes it will briefly connect after a reboot and then quit working again. For ethernet, it shows the cable plugged in and connected. For wifi it says it's connected but nothing will load. The laptop is dual boot with Windows 10 and Mint Cinnamon 20.1 and it connects fine on Windows, and my Mint machine connects without any issues.

I am new with troubleshooting the network settings on Linux and hopefully it's something simple. I have tried turning IPv6 off and secure boot is disabled. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is the output of inxi -Fxxxrz.

You may need to disable fast boot & fast startup.

Thank you! So far it is working now.

The internet is working on the laptop until we try to turn on the Mullvad VPN, which works fine on my computer. It spins and never connects. Any ideas on what could be preventing it from connecting?

No idea, have you tried rebooting? If that doesn't help, someone else may know.

Maybe change your Subject line here to mention the VPN problem.

You were having connection problems earlier with that system. Purge and reinstall Mullvad, to make sure its Kill Switch isn't confused.
