Atheros AR9285 Not Working That Great

My Atheros AR9285 on my laptop will disconnect some times and it doesn't have a strong signal sitting only 7 feet away from my wireless router. I only get 2-3 bars running at around 60-75%.

Sitting only 7 feet from my router I should have 4 bars and 100%.

Anything I can do to improve this, or get other drivers?

Hi DasFox

try installing linux-backports-modules-wireless-karmic-generic using package manager.
Now i have 100% signal even if i have my laptop about 2 metres from router but there is wall and some bookcase and wardrobe between router and my laptop
