Post by prilesje18 » Fri Dec 29, 2006 3:17 pm

Hy i'm new to linux and I stumbled upon this great distro that doesn't require spending hours installing drivers and stuff :D
My broadcom 4311 wifi is recognised by OS and i can see it in system>administration>networking as eth1 . when I tipe in terminal: iwlist eth1 scan it says no scan results. Ofcourse my siemens gigaset wireless router is on :?

I'm having similar problems...no help to you I know...but I think my PCI card requires an aerial extender. Next time I'm near Maplins I'll get one. Agree that this is a GREAT distro. Lots of 'Horse' work been done by these good peeps!

Regards,
Pete

I have an rt2400 based card which driver doesn't support scanning... maybe that's your problem two. I just specify the essid myself (in my case it's galaxy):

Code: Select all

sudo iwconfig eth1 essid galaxy

sudo ifconfig eth1 192.168.100.10 up

ping google.com

echo "et voila :)"
