Ok, so I read as much as I could about installing Mint 12, and everything seems to work perfectly with a wired connection. After going through several iterations of installing Broadcom drivers, I am actually able to connect to my home network. The only problem is that when connected via wifi, the connection is so slow and unreliable that it may as well not be connected at all. Once an ethernet cable is plugged in, everything is perfect. I really want to get this system working, so any help is appreciated.
Details of my system:
Dell Vostro a90
32gb ssd
2gb Ram
and most importantly, BCM4312
***Edit***
I uninstalled everything related to broadcom, and used the low-power driver as my first choice and everything seems to be working!

Yes, it's solved. I was looking for a button to mark it as solved, I must have missed in the posting rules how to do that. Thanks!!
