ALT F1 brings up the Gnome menu - I would LOVE right click to do it ... any ideas how?
(I know XFCE and Fluxbox have it but I would like a Gnome solution as I use Fluxbox a lot then find myself Right clicking in Gnome - I'd just love that gnome menu to pop up on right click)

Re: ALT F1 Gnome Menu on Right Click
Yeah, I've done this, but it requires Compiz and an extra utility called "xdotool" to do it.
1. install xdotool, a utility that can execute key strokes (see below)
Once it's installed, you can type:
and it'll bring up your main menu. Play around with it a bit if you'd like, it can do lots of cool stuff. See for an overview of its functions.
2. Open CompizConfig Settings manager and apply the following settings:
a. General section -> General Options-> "Commands" tab -> Commands: set "Command Line 0" to "xdotool key alt+F1" and go back to main screen.
b. Desktop section -> Viewport Switcher -> "Desktop Based Viewport Switching" tab ->
Now when you right-click on the desktop, it'll bring up the main menu. If you have the main menu as an applet in your panel, it'll just pop it down or up from the panel, and if you remove the menu from your panel it will show the menu from your mouse (as you might expect). If you need to access the Nautilus actions menu (copy, paste, extract, unmount, etc) you can just ctrl-right click on the desktop.

Amazed! Thanks it is great
That was very involved, I never would have got there alone.
