Mint Maya 13: No desktop just mouse cursor after logging

Hi everyone, I'm a new french user of Mint Maya 13 and i'm enjoy with it

I've installed it 5 days ago, and configured it to my whishes ... everything was right untill this morning.

Today, i've an annoying problem:

After the logging screen (despite it was disactivated in the prefs), the desktop doesn't display (only a blackscreen).
I've got the default mouse cursor too wich is working (it was customized in prefs still). But there are no icon, launcher, task-bar. I can't do anything !

Before the last reboot I've installed "Mysql-Client"," Mysql-server" and dependences ," gambas2", and "notepad++" with "Wine".

I've tried some command line in the console as:
dpkg-reconfigure kdm
install xserver-xorg ...

But still have problem

Maybe it's a KDE problem or something like that.
I don't know if there is a link but I need help please !

Welcome to Mint!

It's possible your disk is full.

When you get the log in screen, choose Console login

Then log in with user name and password.

Type df -h

That will tell you if one of your disks or partitions is full.

If all seems okay, type startx

Let us know what happens.

PS: You should NEVER disable login screen. It's not just for security, but for reasons like this

\happened to me, hit alt-f2, type synaptics, open synaptics and reinstall plasma desctop and the other plasma pacjkages, reboot. hope this works as in me.

Just for clarity, I think you mean synaptic--no 's'. There is a program called synaptics but it's got to do with touchpads. You mean the package installer, right?

Really bad idea, having two applications with almost identical names.

yes the package manager one... and the package name is "plasma-desktop" mark it for reinstallation and hope you're done
