Can I properly install Celtx in KDE? [Solved]

Post by tpprynn »

There is this program like Final Draft, screenplay software, which is downloaded as a tar.gz from the Celtx site. Once unpacked the program is ready to go with no compiling - you start it with an executable shell script file in its folder. I can create a kind of template Celtx file that will open the program and let me start a screenplay but I'd like ideally to install the program as if it were from a .deb, and put an icon on the panel, so how do I go about this if it's possible? I remember doing this easily enough when I used Gnome 2 a few years back.

Thanks.

Right-click your menu button, select Edit Applications. You can add a launcher for your program there by clicking on the category where you want it and then clicking New Item. Click the open file dialog button to the right of the Command field and browse to the executable script that launches your program. Now you can start this from the menu launcher.

Excellent, thanks, I'd been completely blind to that Edit applications function.
