How can I get a "create launcher" in desktop context menu Mint 18 KDE?

Post by jozien64 »

I installed mint 18 kde 32 beta on a thinkpad T60 and is working fine.
I also installed mint 18 xfce and when you right click on the desktop,
you get "create launcher" and fill in the fields.
How do you get create launcher in mint 18 kde?

TIA

One possible way is as follows. Right-click your menu button and select "Edit Applications". Select the category where the new launcher should go and click "New Item" to create the launcher. Don't forget to "Save" once created. Close the menu editor. Now right-click the new launcher in your menu and you can select "Add to Desktop". I didn't find a way to organize the desktop though, it just locks the icons in place without any way to move them. A better way is probably to add the Quicklaunch widget. For that either select "Add Widgets" from the hamburger menu (top left) or from right-click on your desktop. Add Quicklaunch. You can right-click Quicklaunch on your desktop to add launchers to it (but only existing launchers from your menu) or you can drag launchers from your menu to it to add them that way.

Cinnamon and MATE both do it the same way as Xfce.

Thanks for quicklaunch.
I still like the way mint 17.2 handles adding new launch apps.
