can't install theme

Post by Parag »

I am totally new to linux. I have recently installed the mint kde 17.3. I 've found that most of the theme files are in tar.gz format. I don't know how to install them. When I install these themes from "Get more theme" it says installed completed but nothing new shows up in theme list. Is there any way to install them. Please anyone help me.

Some themes do not install through "Get new themes". You may need to install them manually.

You can click on a theme you like in "Get new theme" dialog window or search it on https://store.kde.org/
Then download it and extract:
Icon themes to /home/yourusername/.kde/share/icons/
Desktop theme to /home/yourusername/.kde/share/apps/desktoptheme/
GTK themes to /home/yourusername/.themes
Cursor themes to /home/yourusername/.icons

You may also try to customize KDE4 with Qtcurve theme. Here is a good tutorial https://youtu.be/WoaOaVfou1w
