LM 18x KDE System tray

Post by rdonnelly »

Hi I am still using 17.3 which will simply open any object on the system tray with a single LMB, on 18x it required that you RMB and then choose what you want from the dialogue with the LMB. Any way to make the 18x system tray function like 17.3?

Thanks

Hello. Fwiw i've not seen any solution to your dilemma*, for Mint 18.x KDE5, but i recall several older posts complaining about it specifically wrt Update Manager [with which sentiment i agree].

FYI:
  • It does not occur in Neon, Maui, Kubuntu, openSUSE [Tumbleweed & Leap], KaOS [except for Octopi] or KFedora 24, which happily all respect "normal" left & right click functionality for their System Tray widgets.
* Update: I just tested my Mint 18.2 KDE VM. Its System Tray widgets also correctly respect "normal" left & right click functionality, with the one glaring exception being Update Manager, which irritatingly does need the right click then the left click selection. Are you certain that you really did mean
any object on the system tray
?

You are right, updates, and dropbox so far.

I like KDE and will not switch over this nuisance.

My guess is that any gtk native app will do this, while qt apps are fine. I have transmission-qt running in my taskbar and it's fine too.
