Lost transparency in KDE

Post by mr_raider »

Suddely lost transparency in KDE kickoff menu and task bar. Widgets are still transparent, and window moves are still translucent. Graphics seem fine:

Code: Select all

mr_raider@HP-EliteBook-820-G1 ~ $ inxi -Gx
Graphics: Card: Intel Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller bus-ID: 00:02.0
           Display Server: x11 (X.Org 1.18.4 ) drivers: intel (unloaded: modesetting,fbdev,vesa)
           Resolution: 1366x768@60.14hz
OpenGL: renderer: Mesa DRI Intel Haswell Mobile version: 4.5 Mesa 17.4.0-devel Direct Render: Yes
I tried toggling themes and restarting the compositor and sddm, nothing seems to work.

Is their an independant setting hidden somewhere?

Hi "mr_raider"

It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.

That is unusual. Did you change anything recently, or install something new, if so what?

As is typical with KDE, there are various options and settings. Desktop themes have a lot to with this. And, there is a separate "translucency" option in Desktop Effects with its own settings in the System Settings menu. In Linux Mint 18.x KDE System Settings -> Desktop Behavior -> Desktop Effects ->Translucency.

Hope this helps ...
