Hey all,
I just installed Mint Sylvia with KDE. All of a sudden, Konsole started crashing every time I opened it. At this point, I'm reduced to using xterm which looks like ass and doesn't support tabs.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: KDE Konsole Keeps Krashing
You could try to see if there are any obvious errors upon starting Konsole. Start it from xterm to see if there are any errors.
Possibly Konsole's configuration file got corrupted. So another suggestion would be to delete it and then try starting it again - it will create a new one, and of course any configuration settings would be lost. Under KDE4, the configuration file is located at ~/.kde/share/config/konsolerc. I would rename it to something like konsolerc-bad so that you maybe could see what was corrupted after a new on is created.
A while back I had a similar problem with VLC - every now and then it would only open videos full screen or full screen width, not the size of the video (as I desired and how I had it configured). Deleting its configuration file solved the problem (at least until the next time it happened). It was a pain to always reconfigure VLC, so after doing this for the Nth time, I save the "good" configuration file, then when it got corrupted, I simply copied the good one on top of the bad one. (Fortunately with newer versions of VLC, this doesn't happen any more.)

Re: KDE Konsole Keeps Krashing
well the KDE5 has its all setting in .local/share so I won't say it mattered that much, kate does not aware of the .kde anyway.
Re: KDE Konsole Keeps Krashing
Try
locate konsole | grep "/home"
to identify files you can rename.
