screen Rotate widget

Post by bigray14719 »

Hi,
I'm new to linux and have tried several distros. I settled on Linux Mint with the KDE desktop. I would like to find a button or widget or dock that I can place on the desktop and use to rotate the screen orientation. It is a convertible laptop and a simple "tap here to rotate the screen" would be great. any thoughts?

I don't know of any trivial applet for this, but in any case you need to supply more system info. Copy/pasyte this to the terminal and copy/paste the text output here:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz

At one point I had ubuntu or Opensuse with Gnome desktop doing the rotation automatically but then it stopped. I tried the toggle lock under the menu but that didn’t solve it. I like linux mint for the GUI and the software manager. However, I'm really hoping to find a way to make the screen rotate easily.

Thank you

Hi bigray14719

Various applications have built-in touchscreen support like "smplayer" (superb multimedia player), "Berry" Image viewer, etc...

You do not have "direct rendering" enabled on either video card, so that may be a problem. I would also update the Linux Kernel to 4.13.xx or 4.14.xx because you have newer hardware and for security purposes.

You can go to System Settings -> Display and change it there, and you can create your own shortcut using information in the link below.
