virtual desktops

using mint 17.3
desk 1 is firefox; desk 2 is thunderbird; desk 3 is google.
when i open firefox, thunderbird and google are also shown on panel.
How do I get only the selected destop, not all desktops open

Right-click the KDE task manager and choose Configure Task Manager. Scroll down the General tab and check "Show only tasks from the current desktop".

That ought to do it.
