mintUpdate takes forever to find list of updates

mintUpdate takes forever to find list of updates
When checking for updates, mintUpdate takes at least five times as long to fetch the lists of updates as either Synaptic or apt/aptitude in a terminal. Does that happen for anyone else? Might it be a bug?

Even I have noticed this issue. It takes really long time for mintupdate to come up with the list of updates when compared to synaptic.
