Notification configuration?

Post by beli0135 »

Hi to all

Anyone knows how to configure the time that notifications stays open? When my wireless connects it says "Wireless XYZ connected" and stays around 5 seconds. I want to diminish time of all (msg) notifications.
(Mint7, KDE 4)

Thanks.
Best regards,
Emil Beli

I've looked into configuring notify-osd pretty extensively. In their infinite wisdom, the Ubuntu developers have decided to give us a notification system that currently is entirely unconfigurable as far as location, size, time of display, etc.

If you hunt around on Google, you can find some patches people have made that you can apply to the source which you then compile and install yourself (e.g., move it from top right to bottom right) but as far as having a configuration dialog or something, well, not just yet. From what I've read, some configuration options are planned for the future, but I don't know if they even make it into Karmic or not.

well, it seems the kde CE does not use notify-osd (I don't think kubuntu does either) so you should be able to configure the notifications afterall, I believe the daemon is called knotification.
