The final has replaced lancelot with kickoff.
The final has been approved for release so keep your eyes open for it...
If you are using the RC you already have the updates to the final it is just the menu that has changed, and only 1virtual desktop, all user changeable settings anyway.

Cheers

Thanks a lot, man! It would be great for me if OS`d support my Asus Xonar DG. Unfortunately card is supported in 2.6.38 RC kernel only (onboard Realtek chip isn`t even worth to talk about). So no sound for me @ least `till Mint 11 :( Well, maybe you Boo will return Lancelot back then - Lance rocks! Whatever - congratz to all KDE users!

If you are referring to the bottlenecks on the buttons, it changes depending on which effect you use.

I don't see where it is a bug. I used lancelot on KDE 9 and it changed with each effect I would use and the buttons worked fine..

The correct code is

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
this will upgrade to the newest kernel..
to what newest kernel? 2.6.38?

last time i used it it took me to 2.6.35-25 as opposed to the one i had 2.6.35-22. not much of an upgrade but it worked for me

Base install installs the 2.6.35.22 kernel. As stated by dante19992 it will upgrade to kernel 2.6.35-25 which was/is the newest stable kernel. I have not checked for a newer one than that..

Yes, the Lancelot menu would not update when installing non-KDE/third party apps without logging out and back in again. It was decided that this was unacceptable.

ok i kno i shoulda stated this a while ago but Boo u did an excellent job with LM10 KDE. i tried mint 9 KDE and with my hardware it was just too slow. it was practically unusable. but mint 10 KDE is so snappy and responsive. and with a little tweaking it runs perfectlly. i have no complaints

That makes sense.. Thanks for the info.

I'm downloading Mint 10 KDE final now and will install tomorrow and see how it performs.

That's right. Just apply the level 1, 2 and 3 updates in Mint Update and you'll be all set. You probably have all the updates by now anyway if you've updated regularly since the RC was released.

Come to think of it I have not gotten any updates since installing the RC. Only the updates right after install as well as upgrading the kernel right after install. I've done

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
but no updates have shown up..

Yup, me too. Of course I have to foolish about it. One Linux Mint isn't enough. I had to install 3 different versions in 3 different partitions to keep me happy. :P

Ah, forgot about that one. For some reason a few of the (3rd party) sources were unchecked. I don't mean the (source) ones, the ones that should have obviously been checked (kubuntu/main, kubuntu/backports--that kind of thing). Come to think of it I should probably check Software Sources in the final I just installed just to make sure.
