CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE

Post by BrOiler1985 »

Hello!

CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE (to restart the X-Server) isnt (as the release notes say) enabled for default. For all people who want to enable it, but dont know how:

In the Keyboard-Settings, there is an Advanced-Tab. There you can enable it. I use a german version of Mint 10 KDE, so Ill translate it freely:

"Shortcut to force quit the X-Server." or "Key sequence to kill the X-Server"

(Maybe someone can write down the exact name of it.)

You only have to check the box and click apply or ok. Then you can restart the X-Server with CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE.

Have fun :)

Good BrOiler1985 ;)

For imagination :D

Open your Menu
Image
and click on System Settings

Then choose Regional / Language
Image

Then choose Keyboard Layout from the left
Image

But from upper menu choose Advanced

Then scroll down and look up the section Key sequence to kill X server

Make the tick
Then Apply button on the right bottom corner ;)

The Correction:

I have corrected the suggestion of:

But from upper menu choose Switching Option
to
But from upper menu choose Advanced

It's the 3rd upper tab, not 2nd, however a newbie could be confused, so - I am sorry / Excuse moi :)

It does stay on the release page for Mint 10 KDE that Crlt +alt+backspace is a known problem. Perhaps if there are notes included inside the distro those need to be corrected, but it does say it is a known issue. Though certainly helpful for those who want to know where it is to turn it on :)
