i accidentally did an upgrade instead of dist-upgrade

Post by red123 »

So I accidentally did an upgrade instead of a dist-upgrade when I went from 4.6 to 4.6.1. I did a dist-upgrade right afterward. I am wondering if this is safe? I noticed that ever since I upgraded, I am getting a "Write failed broken pipe" error whenever I am using ssh. I am not sure if this problem is related to the way I updated KDE.

Upgrade instead of dist-upgrade is not unsafe. Upgrade may install less updates than dist-upgrade, but as both are done through apt-get the safety is the same.

I think it is good practice to get into the habit of always using dist-upgrade.
