KDE Shutdowns to Shell / dos screen

Post by itsagas2 » Sat Apr 09, 2011 8:06 pm

Due to the latest round up software updates on my Linux Mint 64 KDE edition, now when I select the shutdown option KDE will shutdown but then brings me to a login screen at the shell prompt. Where in KDE to I check the shutdown script to look for an answer for this new phenomenon?

Thanks so much Zero Prime . I figured it was probably a easy fix, ... I didn't see this posted on the search i did on the forum. Seems I don't always find what I search for in forums very easily anyways at first,.

/sbin/shutdown -P -h now

I believe it should be:

/sbin/shutdown -h now

Glad I could help. Future advice, try Google instead of the Mint forums. When using the term Linux Mint in the search, you almost always find an answer given here:) Also, the Linux Mint Google page has the option to search in Linux Mint instead of the web.

How can I start my computer in DOS mode? My hard drive is full and my computer won't fully start up. Can I start it in DOS mode so I can delete some files to create some physical space needed for startup?

You need to start a new thread.

Hijacking someone else's thread is frowned on here..
