Mint 12 Lisa KDE Logout Workaround

Post by tdockery97 »

The easy way to overcome the Menu/Logout button bug in Mint 12 KDE is to use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace which quickly and cleanly takes you to the Login Screen. However, this is disabled by default in Mint 12 KDE. Here's the fix:

Go to System Settings>Input Devices>Keyboard Settings>Advanced.
Scroll down to Key sequence to kill the Xserver.
Expand the item by clicking on the little > to the left of the item.
Check the box for Control + Alt + Backspace.
Click "Apply".

That's it. Now if you want to just log out instead of shutting down you just use the Control + Alt + Backspace keyboard shortcut.

It is strange, because logout is working without problem at me.

I guess a lot of people are having problems with it, including myself. I almost never use logout because if I leave I am either restarting or shutting down, but at least for those who are having this problem control + alt + backspace works well.
