[SOLVED] Net Runner vs Mint KDE
im finally making the switch from Windows and chose KDE over gnome! But i did not chose a distro and want to know since net runner teamed up with mint what is the difference between mint KDE and Net runner. also is mint KDE a good choice even though it is not the main edition.

Re: net runner vs mint kde
in my opinion...netrunner did a good job with their kde desktop, they included additional icons.their fonts were nice.only downfalls were the pesky volume issues which were easily fixed by adjusting the pcm,the constant window manager crashes, and runs kinda hot.
mint 12 kde.they did a beautiful job with.although the fonts are terrible, the nepomuk crashes(fixed by upgrading to 4.
,the freezes,and the cpu usage.
havent used it in a looooong time so dont k now how its running now.
i currently run kubuntu 12.04 beta1.i love it but it has its issues also.downloading mint 12 kde right now and gonna give it a go.
in my opinion, deciding between mint and netrunner,i would say mint.and thats only from experience.though ive had my arguments about it in the past, they still do a great job.

Re: net runner vs mint kde
I've used netrunner 32 bit and had issues with it. It runs slow adn uses a lot of resourses but I've been using the 64 bit version and it's very nice. I haven't had any issues with it.
I'm just about to install the Mint 64 bit version on another hdd and compare the two.

I chose mint KDE thought... sometimes i get error reports saying kmix crashed though it didn't and software manager crashes easily but overall I'm happy with my choice.

Re: [SOLVED] Net Runner vs Mint KDE
I'm using the 64 bit Mint and I haven't had any problems at all. I never use the software manager (I always use synaptic) so for me that isn't an issue.

Re: [SOLVED] Net Runner vs Mint KDE
type this in terminal:
sudo apt-get remove mintinstall
then,
go to synaptic package manager and type in:
muon.
select muon installer and it should a couple more packages and just accept.
use muon as your software manager.
then just simply add the repository for the kde 4.8 and you should run fine.

Re: [SOLVED] Net Runner vs Mint KDE
Mint 12 KDE, with the KDE 4.8.1 upgrade is so stable that is boring....
I would go for it. and I'm certainly not going back to kubuntu....

Re: [SOLVED] Net Runner vs Mint KDE
@ obakfahad You can get konqueror from the repository. But it's probably already installed (then you can find it in the menu).

I agree. Mint 12 kde 64 bit is the smoothest running most stable and most pleasurable os out there right now imo.cespinal wrote:Mint 12 KDE, with the KDE 4.8.1 upgrade is so stable that is boring....
