2 Remastersys type apps

Salineos-backup creates an installable file that can be bigger than the 4 GB maximum that remastersys supports
I only run the standard Linux video drivers and have no problems, if you are reinstalling your backup to a different machine it might be wise to disable any proprietary video drivers you have installed.
You also need to break any symbolic links you might have in your home folder.
I also stop Dropbox from auto starting.
You can't install the backup into the OS that is running
so you must have another OS with Salineos backup installed or a live DVD with salineos-backup installed.
Download salineos-backup and unzip http://lin.me.uk/mint/salineos-backup/s ... backup.tar
Install Yad 32 bit or 64 bit with gdebi
Run the copy-files script
You should now have an option Menu/System/Salineos Backup

I haven't tried it on LMDE Gnome but see no reason why it shouldn't work.
