Panel Opcaity

Post by Dalian »

Hi
I'm using Mint 14 XFCE and I'm currently trying to customize it.
I wouldn't call this a problem, but rather my lack of experience.
When I try to lower the opacity on the panel, parts of it remain opaque. That would be the open programs and the right side (time, connection). As such :

I need a way to configure the transparency on those.
Thank you.

Hi Dalian and welcome to the forum. I too am just beginning to customize Xfce and may not be much help as my notification area was transparent without any action on my part (I think). As for the window buttons I made all transparent except for the one with focus. See pic here for the how.

Thank you, Pat.
I managed to make the panel fully transparent, but I have the same problem with the focused window buttons.
Though I can adjust the color to make it look less bothering according to the rest of the theme. I'm still waiting for suggestions on that. If you could name a theme that would make the window buttons less salient, that would be much appreciated.

Have you considered tint2? I have no experience with it but have seen some very nice panels made with it from time to time. Look at the work here and here to see if that is what interests you.
Good luck :)
