Update to Elyssa XFCE CE Final UPDATED

OK this bug is starting to get to me, so I will give you the procedure to update to the final.
Update packages:

Code: Select all

apt install firefox xulrunner-1.9 language-pack-en language-pack-gnome-en mozilla-thunderbird thunderbird libvlc0 vlc vlc-nox libavcodec1d libavformat1d libavutil1d libpostproc1d

Download my updated updates and extract.
Open the updates folder with all the .deb files.
Now right click Open Terminal Here and run

sudo dpkg -i xfcemint-doc_0.5-1_all.deb

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Make sure to say Y to everything.

Code: Select all

apt install -f

Shouldn't remove anything.

Getting new XFCE Menu::
In Thunar Show Hidden files (Ctrl + H)
Delete all menu-cache* files in ~/.cache/xfce4/desktop/
Delete any menu.xml* files in ~/.config/xfce4/desktop/

Getting custom actions updates::
Delete all files in ~/.config/Thunar/

Update wicd:
apt remove --purge wicd-autostart-plugin
Download and install the stable version here.

Fix compiz Focus Prevention Level:
Open Advanced Desktop Effects Settings --> General --> Focus & Raise Behavior
Change Focus Prevention Level to Off

Fix the default Exaile theme:
Open XFCE 4 mintDesktop
Restore Exaile artwork.

I have uploaded a new iso for exploder to test and that i hope will get release.

Well it's meant to update the beta to the final.
I suppose you could try to convert the Gnome version to XFCE CE.
Not sure what would happen but you it could work.
Just don't install mintupdate-xfce and you should be able to make it work.
Just realize it hasn't been tested at all yet.
I haven't slept today, so I hope that makes sense.

Many thanks for the explanation. I had actually been trying to update the Gnome version and was wondering why things weren't working as expected. In fact I did pretty much get it going but there were a few issues still not right. Probably the best thing will be to start again from the XFCE beta as intended.

I have uploaded the iso and exploder has tested it.
We both have no logon problems.
Clem has to do the final approval and send it to the mirrors after that it will be released.

Sorry about re posting the question!

ok Ive got as far as download and install wicd.

Ive got it but it says to extract. I could use an abc on how to install this file. I always get stuck on installing tar. files!

Please help if you can! I darent switch my pc off until these files are restored in case it wont come back on again!

You need the Debian package.(.deb file)
