Audacity as normal user [fixed]

Post by joeham »

I can't get audacity to save projects or process any existing audio files I've copied from a windows system unless I am root. Are there any groups I need to add my normal user to that would affect this?

Sorry -- my bad. When I copied the files I guess I was root or used root privileges. That meant that all the audacity data files where owned by root and only gave my normal user read privileges. Thus audacity could only play them.

Pretty much a noob mistake.

This is an important consideration - to be root at the wrong time can have all sorts of implications - like don't copy files in home with sudo :)
