[SOLVED] Dark themed menu

Post by hagey »

Hi guys, looking for a little help with a theme. I really like the darker colour on the menu and the panel after looking at screen shots of cinnamon but can't seem to replicate it on Xfce. I don't want to change the window colour really just the whisker menu with a darker background and the panel. When I tried changing the panel colour the indicators didn't show up very well - this maybe down to the theme I was using? The only dark theme appears to be Xfce-dusk but I don't really like how it leaves the windows and some of the other text doesn't show up very well but the menu looks nice. Appreciate any assistance on this.

Also, I have one panel at the top of the screen. Is the only way to centre the Date/Clock by using a bunch of separators? It works okay until you open a window.

Cheers,

hagey.

1) Take a look here, you may find just what you are wanting . .

Once I have downloaded a theme, I open Thunar file manager, navigate to /usr/share and then right-click on the theme folder, and choose to "Open folder as root". Enter my password and now I have permission to copy/move that downloaded theme into the system's theme folder. :-)

2) Yea, the Window List takes up the center of the panel.

Thanks richyrich, I followed your instructions and it was really easy to do. Now I have an awesome "after dark" theme which is what I was after :D
