[SOLVED] No xscreensaver on 18.2 xfce clean install?
Is there a bug in xfce LM 18.2 installer that xscreensaver is not included ?
I go to power manager and see controls for display, suspend, etc, but nothing to control the screensaver itself.
On my old xfce LM 17.3 there is settings -> personal -> screensaver
But in xfce LM 18.2 it is not there.
Am I missing something, or is it a bug?
Thanks.

I take this here

"BLACK SCREEN AFTER 10 MINUTES" as the "very basic" screensaver.
xscreensaver - tried it, but this "basic screensaver" will do for me ...

[SOLVED] Re: No xscreensaver on 18.2 xfce clean install?
Thank you my friend.
As you said -
Menu -> Power Manager -> Display -> Blank after
Then use the slider for 'On battery' and 'Plugged in'
My menu looks different to yours and not only in language, but different controls.
This results in the login screen and I assume regular display power management will kick in eventually.
Exactly what I wanted, because in 17.3 I used "blank screen" option in xscreensaver anyway.

They removed xscreensaver from Xfce 18.2
It is still available in the repositories and plays nice with your computer, even better than it did in 18.1.
Just search it in the Software Manager, and install the main package, in addition to the other couple of packages, depending on whether there is a particular screensaver you want in there.
I love xscreensaver and the guy who developed it. Here's what I do with my screensaver:

@ flyingrhino
Yours is a notebook, mine a desktop, therefore the difference ...
@ jameskga
That

was my standard screensaver, when on KDE. Fullscreen. When switching to Xfce, tried xscreensaver with additional packages, but could not find that one there ...
So I removed xscreensaver again and stayed with a blank screen.

Same here: Asus UX303UA laptop.
Even with the Nvidia 940 GPU I still like blank screen
What puzzled me was the removal of 'screensaver' shortcut in the settings menu.
And even the sliders inside the power menu weren't clear

Re: [SOLVED] No xscreensaver on 18.2 xfce clean install?
I have just installed Mint 18.3 Sylvia. Posted elsewhere about no wifi connection visible or operational, hence connected via the cable.
However, my question is, is there a way I can make the screensaver use only the photo images I have put in Pictures.
I don't want the other random images that are already part of the screensaver programme.
i was able to do this in 17.2, and can do it in Windows.

If you can't find a setting (or conf file) that explicitly lists directories, you could always locate the existing pictures, add yours there (or symlinks) and remove the ones you don't like.
