Backintime fails with Segmentation Error

Post by iainrs »

I tried to access an archived file with Backintime today and it didn't run.
ran backintime-qt4 (name from whisker menu) from console and got 'segmentation fault'.

I last backed up in July just before(?) upgrading to 18.2.
(attached config file dated 5/7/2017)

I managed to find the file on the archive disk but not sure who to report this to and what info to send.

Code: Select all

backintime-gnome doesn't work for you ? If not, you may need to install the kde-runtime libraries (for qt). (see Mint 18 Release Announcements)

Can you give me a link to Mint 18 release Announcements please

I'm not sure how to use backintime-gnome - it is installed (via software manager) but not in normal path :

Code: Select all

find . -name backintime-gnome*
./usr/share/doc/backintime-gnome
./usr/share/app-install/desktop/backintime-gnome:backintime-gnome.desktop
./var/lib/dpkg/info/backintime-gnome.md5sums
./var/lib/dpkg/info/backintime-gnome.list
./var/cache/apt/archives/backintime-gnome_1.1.12-1_all.deb

Code: Select all

backintime-gnome
backintime-gnome: command not found
I've only used the standard (qt4?) mint gui version & I'm a bit out of my depth - sorry

I see it made a .desktop file, which is used for adding it to the main menu. Sometimes it doesn't show up in the menu until a logout or reboot, and sometimes it's in the menu with a different name . . sorry, I can't help you further as I use Clonezilla, not backintime. :(

Edit: qt4 is KDE, gnome(gtk) is already compatible in Xfce. (they can easily work in other desktops, I hope you just need to install the kde runtime files to get it to work.
