Sorry I've missed it.
I'm not using Main edition (or any based on Jaunty). I'm waiting for system from you.

Oops that sounded a little harsh.
Sorry about that didn't reread the post.
Might have been in the blog but I don't remember.
Most likely it wasn't the main focus.

Hoping to have a test version for the team soon.

I did not mean that. We (My wife and me) are thinking that your version of Linux Mint is best distro in the world. I'm serious when I write those worlds.

Forgot my wife works this weekend, so it'll be next week that i can get a version to exploder for testing.
Most likely Monday, then he can test it when he has the time.

Ok I'm on dev 006 and have about 5 bugs in some the XFCE CE packages.

I have removed fusesmb and fusesmbtool since they no longer work.(no upstream working to fix it either)
I have replaced it with pyneighborhood.
I have also set up pyneighborhood to use ~/Network as the mount point instead of /mnt/lan
It'll also open them in thunar.

I think it shouldn't be much longer the team can test an iso.

Oops forgot to make the meta-package, but that should take too long.
Another change is Software Sources is installed by default and is working.
I have also added the apt:// urls in firefox.
I will post all of the changes after I give the team a test iso.

I am going to go through our quality check sheet to make sure that next iso is ready for exploder.

merlwiz79: thanks for all your hard work. I am looking forward to testing and hopefully using Mint XFCE CE 7. I assume you will have beta's to test, and if so you will provide a download link?

I'm close to done on the tests and so far nothing new.
When I give the team the iso they will test it.
If exploder says that it passes all of the tests then clem tests.
Once clem tests it and he likes everything then he will give it to the mirrors.
It takes about 2 days for the mirrors to get it.
Once the mirrors have it, then the release announcement is made on the main website and blog.
I have no idea which will get released 1st the KDE CE or XFCE CE.
The KDE CE is really close and I haven't had one tested yet.
Most likely it will be the KDE CE, but it all depends on how much time the team has.(all volunteers)

From what I have read in this thread, the XFCE CE 7 Gloria is only going to be available in iso format.
Therefore, Felicia CE users are recommended to do fresh install only, right?
An update from Felicia to Gloria via dist-upgrade is not documented and recommended, is it?

Thank you.

Well it's recommended to do a fresh install.
I will attempt to make an upgrader but it'll most likely screw up peoples systems.
There are a good amount of changes to 4.6 that your custom settings may break something.

I would simply question why anyone with a fancy 64bit machine would need to use a slimmed down xfce version of Mint when the Gnome or KDE versions would run incredibly well? With a 64 bit machine and all the space and power you have why not just load xfce onto Gloria and use that desktop when you feel like it?

Lagagnon, you can install the xfce meta-package to load XFCE in Gnome or KDE but as far as I know it's not available yet for Gloria. We have to wait the XFCE version to be released.

I have tried XFCE installed on Mint-Gnome : even with a fast machine it's not as smooth as Mint-XFCE CE (one example : at desktop loading, the Gnome-desktop wallpaper is briefly displayed before the XFCE-desktop one)

I'm using Mint 6 XFCE, which I have upgraded to 7 by changing sources list file (now I have non official XFCE release). Today I have installed update of mint upload xfce, and after this app stop working. When I try upload sth it stops on "verifying free space" - I can only close application.

Code: Select all

mintupload patches.zip
Exception in thread Thread-1:

Hi szamot83, I'm afraid the main mintUpload service is down at the moment, so you can only use it with custom hosting services if you have access to them. This isn't an xfce specific bug, and we're working on a fix to be more obvious about what's going on, hopefully you'll see it through mintUpdate soon.
