Clipboard defect

Post by johnywhy » Thu Aug 09, 2018 9:06 pm

1. right-click panel-launcher
2. drill down to Command
3. highlight and copy command
4. close launcher
5. open text editor
6. nothing to paste

others on xfce forum have confirmed

Would it make sense for Mint to bundle xfce-clipman to workaround this problem?

I think it's actually more program specific, not Desktop Environment. See the bug here for details.

regardless, it's a bug.

i think it makes sense to include a clip manager until it's fixed.

On my Mint 19 XFCE system:

Code: Select all

apt search clipman
i A xfce4-clipman - clipboard history utility
p xfce4-clipman:i386 - clipboard history utility
i xfce4-clipman-plugin - clipboard history plugin for Xfce panel
p xfce4-clipman-plugin:i386 - clipboard history plugin for Xfce panel
So far, no problems.

OK, gotcha. To be honest, I don't remember installing xfce4-clipman. Maybe it was installed when I added the xfce4-clipman-plugin to the panel (did I install something then? Who knows... ). I checked my command history, but it didn't go back that far.

I do remember having similar issues with Mint 18.3 Cinnamon, especially annoying with LibreOffice 5/6.
