Launch Panel won't dock to bottom of screen SOLVED (for no reason)

Post by lsemmens »

Image As the photo indicates the main panel sits about 5mm off the bottom of the screen, How can I convince it to dock on the bottom of the screen again, It docks to the left and right without any problem but will not dock to the bottom.

Greetings!

According to the manufacturer, your laptop's native display resolution is 1080x600 pixels. However, your system's info shows a resolution of 1024x576 pixels -- 24 vertical pixels short of the 600 pixels the GPU allows for. Sooo, somehow, Xfce's bottom panel (aka Task Bar) appears to be "locked" to that gap. I can't figure out why the desktop shows a 1024x600 wall paper, but your panel seems to "float" above the bottom edge. Have you tried to "unlock" the panel's position (right-click on panel > popup menu > "Panel" option > Panel preferences > "Panel-1" > "Display" tab > unclick "Lock panel" option) and then tried to move it down, to the screen's edge (left-click + hold + drag)?

Is it possible that you might have created an empty, transparent bottom panel with a 24 pixel row size that could be preventing you from moving your visible panel lower? Note: I've been unable to duplicate your problem on my 12yo Toshiba laptop...

Cheers, m4a

I tried all those, unlocking, looking for an "invisible" panel. Crazy thing is, whilst typing this I tried to relocate it again, and it is now docking to the bottom of the screen. So I'll mark it as SOLVED for no apparent reason.
