Conditional Background

Post by powerIProgrammer »

I like to automatically change the desktop background picture - by testing first if I am online ( ping to Yahoo will do) .
And I guess rechecking regulary. Anything can think of a script how to do this? Maybe needs a cron as well....
Tessa 19.1 with XFCE.

Thoughts?

Greetings!

I am not sure what you're after, but if you are trying to pull random background images off the web, take a look at the "variety" background changer, written by Peter Levy; why re-invent the wheel? At a minimum, "variety" provides a good examle of how its done. I've used "variety" for several years now, since LM 16, and i never had a problem with it -- it just works (for me, anyway).
