Do you still have Tessa theme packages installed? Please report the output of apt show mint-themes && apt show mint-icons.

The Tessa themes are not made for mate they are made for Mint 19.1 (Mate / XFCE / Cinnamon). As per the other thread they are not made for 18.3.
For custom Nemo actions, useful scripts for the Cinnamon desktop, and Cinnamox themes visit my Github pages.

Sorry - it's apt show mint-x-icons && apt show mint-y-icons && apt show mint-y-theme

Any way try this to see if it fixes the issue- apt install --reinstall mint-themes mint-y-theme mint-x-icons mint-y-icons

I've just re-read your last reply to the other thread - so you used Erik's scripts to try and recolor Mint-Y and didn't download his pre-built themes? I've just had a look at his instructions and unfortunately they won't work as written anymore. So I guess you might have some broken themes in ~/.themes that need deleting.

What theme are you set to use currently?

I guess I didn't download that prebuilt... I am not and advanced user, but I guess I didn't.
Right now my theme is "Breeze-dark" and when I created this post it was "Mint-X-Teal". I can see the navigations icons in Internet Browsers , so the problem seems only to be in the File Manager.

I am tempted to delet all the content in the .theme folder and start again.... but I am not sure... I guess I must do it from terminal or synaptics

Interesting fact... I don't hae any of the classic themes in that folder only the ones I have downloaded from xfce-look.org

Update: I am so sorry I didn't notice the icon theme I was using... and you have told me to check that.... the problem was I was using an icon theme called " plane-dark" Which doesn't have cache memory.... There are instructions given in order to edit a file which I don't dare to do.... I have changed the icon theme to the clasics like "mint-x-orange" I all the controls are shown right now. I apologize.

Thank you so much for your help.

Anyway If you can tell me where mint themes are storage in Xfce desktop I will appreciate it.

No worries and apologies for the late reply.

The .themes folder in you home is specifically for user downloaded themes.

The system themes, and themes installed via deb or synaptic normally live in /usr/share/themes/. Occasionally they will be installed in /usr/local/share/themes/

Some themes found on github etc may offer an installation script. Some of these will install as system themes to one of the above folders. Basically if you need sudo to install it's installing as a system theme.
