Mesa update to 18.3.3-1 breaks xfwm4

Post by Jon_the_id » Sat Feb 09, 2019 5:23 pm

HI all,
Updated my mesa packages to 18.3.3-1 using 'Update Manager' last night.
Now xfwm4 doesn't work at all and I have to use compiz as the window manager.
Anybody got any idea why this is happening?
Thanks,
Jon

Are you using a PPA? Mine are still at 18.2.2 (updated system this morning).
Mint 19.1 Cinnamon
kernel 5.0.0-20-generic
AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core w/16 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 960 w/2GB RAM (430.26)

Using PPAs like Updated Open Graphics Drivers - since 2011! to update your graphics subsystem (X11, Mesa) can wreak your system. Because they can cause dependency problems and version conflicts with your installed Mint version.

now that you know what broke your system use timeshift to go back before the update then selectively upgrade leaving any xfce stuff out until you troubleshoot
