GUI for Keyboard > Layout Not Working Properly

Post by aedoue »

I want to use the English(US, alt, intl) keyboard layout, and have used it successfully. However, since installing 17.2 xfce from an earlier version of 17.? xfce, it usually does not work, no matter how I play with the Keyboard layout settings. I have had success switching from Generic 105 to Generic 101, but that has not helped lately. Can anyone share the terminal commands to set keyboard layout?

Thanks very much,
Aggie

I get this far.

Code: Select all

$ xfconf-query -lc keyboard-layout
/Default/XkbDisable
/Default/XkbLayout
/Default/XkbModel
/Default/XkbOptions/Group
/Default/XkbVariant
This seems to tell me that I'ḿ using the default keyboard.
Keyboard GUI says that I´m using English US alt intl with Generic 105 (default) layout.

I can type some keys using a ´ dead key

To change your default layout chosen during installation run this command and restart the computer:

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
Locked

Return to “Xfce”
