[solved] Tango Icons do not change all folders

Post by deanr72 » Mon Aug 05, 2019 10:20 am

Every other icon set I choose changes all the icons and folders. But I really want to use Tango. Why does it not change all the folders? Is there something I can do to rectify this?

Xfce 19.1

Thanks.

Hi,
please refine ;
what do you mean with :
Why does it not change all the folders?
Is it the colour of the blueish ones ?

note: That are self-created folders.

The others are folders that are specified from XFCE ..... like : Documents, Videos, Music, Templates ..... e.g.

The colour of self-created folders is specified in the theme.

So if you want to change colour of the self-created folders, you need some experience in theming and some graphical skills.

The blueish icon for the self-created folders could be found in tango-theme :
/scalable/places/folder.svg
and: /32x32/places/folder.png
and: /22x22/places/folder.png
and: /16x16/places/folder.png

So one could change the colour by copy and paste the folder-files to another folder in home, and change the look of them with incscape for .svg and Gimp for .png ..... and then write them back to its origion with admin-rights. .........
but important :
as i dont know, how you installed the theme (either by apt install or the "easy way" by downloading, extracting and putting it in ~/.icons)
: for the theme destination ~/.icons you shall write it back only with user-rights.
In der Ruhe liegt die Kraft ! .......... The strenght is to be found in serenity !

Thanks for the respone secureIT

When I can, as in this instance, I install directly from xfce-look using the install button with the ocs-url plug-in.

It is indeed the gnomey folders which haven't taken the icon theme but, after having done some more research, I've discovered there's a Tango2 icon set which I've installed and works perfectly - even the system folders.

So, either way, this is solved. Thanks.
