Desktop icons/symbols are disappeared

Post by Selez » Sun Aug 18, 2019 12:48 pm

Hello everybody!

I am new in the area of Linux....

Today I set up a new >Linux Mint Xfce on my old pc and everything went great! Then I updated the Samba Server

Code: Select all

:~#apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
After/During that my terminal disappeared and the only thing which left was a blue picture with a little mouse on it. Everything else was gone... (Symbols, task bar,...).

When I restart the computer, there is the normal login window and after that I get back to the empty desktop in my case("Schreibtisch").

Please help me I don't know how to fix this! :idea:

Best regards,
Selez

Do you have a HDMI cable connected along with your video connection to your monitor?

Let me rephrase that. You are using only one monitor or do you have more than one monitor or a TV hooked up as well? If you just have one monitor go into Settings > Desktop Settings > select different Window manger until they re-appear.
