Unless you are a confident, experienced Linux user this is not something I would suggest you attempt. Desktop environments are complex beasts consisting of many packages. It would be better for you to try KDE using a Live Linux CD first, see how you like it, and if it suits you then install it as a separate boot system. My humble opinion.
