I have the same problem. It's bad that you can't choose a weather provider.

This problem reappearing is possibly linked to the source disabling the old API on 1 March:
https://api.met.no/blog/2021-02-04-extremeswwc:
As mentioned previously, the old versions of Locationforecast (1.9), Nowcast (0.9) and Weathericon (1.1) will terminate on March 1st, 2021. Incredibly, almost 70 % of the current API traffic is still using version 1.9, This means a lot of sites and apps will stop working shortly. We recommend everyone not yet upgraded to start working on this ASAP. Please see our docs for more information:

I have no idea how to fix the problem

Hello friends,
i am on LM 20.1 Xfce and i fixed it in this unusual way :
i downloaded libweather.so contained in this .deb from mx-linux repo
gdebi made the rest
after sys-restart it runs flawlessly
http://la.mxrepo.com/mx/repo/pool/main/ ... _amd64.deb

Re: Xfce4-weather-plugin (No Data)
Try this installer package, straight from the Ubuntu repo's (which is always the best option):
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/u ... _amd64.deb
Simply double-click the downloaded package in order to install it, just like you would do with a Windows installer. Should give you version 0.11.0-1, which is probably the latest and greatest.
Stuff like this happens from time to time to weather apps, usually because of API changes. For the future, bookmark this page:

Hi Pjotr,
i tried the ubuntu-file before - but gdebi said :
Error: dependency cannot be fulfilled : libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0(>=2.22.0)
Thats the reason, why i took the Version from MX.
The MX-Version doesnt show any errors.

Re: Xfce4-weather-pluging (No Data)
You're right.... How about using the libweather.so from the Ubuntu package? Is that possible?

Unfortunately the package direct from Ubuntu still is not working with an unsatisfied dependency;Pjotr wrote: ⤴Thu Mar 04, 2021 3:35 pm Try this installer package, straight from the Ubuntu repo's (which is always the best option):

xfce4-weather-plugin : Depends: libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0 (>= 2.22.0) but it is not installable
The mx version is still using the Norwegian weather service according to the applets window. There is no way that I know of to figure out that I know of which service the Ubuntu version is using; I'm not even sure if that is the API problem spoken of above!

Re: Xfce4-weather-pluging (No Data)
I have just restored the package from the ubuntu repos but replaced the libweather.so file with the version from the .deb package in the PPA for xfce-4.16 at https://launchpad.net/~bluesabre/+archi ... /+packages.
That is still working at the moment!

Re: Xfce4-weather-pluging (No Data)
Presumably MX-Linux and xfce-4.16 have both updated the API in the applet packages, or at least in the libweather.so file they contain

I try clicking on that link and it never loads. I did find a link in this post: https://gitlab.xfce.org/panel-plugins/x ... note_26949 that let me download the MX 17 xfce4-weather-plugin DEB package and now I gots weather.secureIT wrote: ⤴Thu Mar 04, 2021 3:23 pm Hello friends,

Re: Xfce4-weather-pluging (No Data)
Any solutions for Mint 19.2? None of these DEBs work because of unsatisfied dependencies in 19.2.
Re: Xfce4-weather-pluging (No Data)
Try just copying the libweather.so file from one of those debs into the correct place as mentioned above, ie, first then copy the extracted file in its place
Code: Select all
rm /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xfce4/panel/plugins/libweather.so
Code: Select all
sudo cp path/to/extracted/libweather.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xfce4/panel/plugins/

If I could upvote you ajgreeny, I would. For now please accept my thanks for this post. It was the simple fix I was looking for. I registered here just to say thanks.ajgreeny wrote: ⤴Sat Mar 06, 2021 12:24 pm Try just copying the libweather.so file from one of those debs into the correct place as mentioned above, ie, firstthen copy the extracted file in its placeCode: Select all

Oh wow, did I miss my beautiful xfce4-weather-plugin! The Weather, Clipboard, and Notes plugins are the reasons I can never go to any other desktop besides XFCE ... these really are perfect tools: simple, powerful, with emergent utility built in.
Thanks again
Re: Xfce4-weather-pluging (No Data)
Many thanks johnnyq; glad to be of help.
And I agree totally that Xfce is the best DE available to us.
It is fast, uses few resources, is immensely configurable and looks terrific, though I'm not too keen on eye-candy, I just want a quick running system!

I had the same issue as well with, however it fixed itself by some magic. (Linux Mint20) It still doesn't work on my Linux Lite machine. (V4.
