No audio Mint 9

Post by tsimon1988 »

I always seem to have audio problems that I can't figure out (next time I'm getting a Lenovo laptop), have gone back to the main releases now after I found Mint Debian a little to flaky still. My laptop is a HP CQ62 & any suggestions is great. The problem with this laptop is that the Audio is being read from the HDMI port and not the speakers.

Try adding the following line to your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file:

options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4

I had a Compaq CQ60 until recently that ran sound out of the box, but it is possible you have the same audio chipset as my newer HP Pavilion HDX16, which wouldn't work until I did this (though it still won't see the built-in mics, but that seems to be a quirk of linux on that machine).
