The Ultimate Sandwich in the known galaxy

Post by MurphCID »

Medium sliced German style brown bread, spread with spicy (horseradish) mustard, sharp, crisp, dill pickles, thin sliced corned beef, thin sliced black forest style ham, sharp swiss cheese. Grill the whole till slightly crunchy, and enjoy. Sometimes some carmelized onions added as well.

Is it cheating to have someone else make the sandwich? There is a BBQ place an hour down the road that makes an unbelievable brisket sandwich. The slaw is right on it, so a full meal. At home, a burger fresh off the grill with blue cheese and mushrooms is hard to beat.

German style brown loaf sliced in half, spread with 1lb of butter, spicy (chilli) mustard, sharp glass, dill pickles, thick sliced side of beef, thick sliced black forest cake, sharp swiss knives. Try to find a grill to fit it in. Sometimes some truck tyres added as well.

The Wife and I make sandwiches for each other all of the time so I see no reason why someone else making the sandwich would be cheating.

Can't beat a burger fresh off the grill.

I prefer mustard / cheese / pickles and onions.

Not at all, that’s just good attention to detail :)

I had Vegemite once. An ex-g/f from Australia broght a jar over.

Oh. My. God.

My hair fell out, and now I'm half bald. True story!

The two best sandwiches I have ever wrapped a lip around are from restaurants in New Orleans. I lived in NO from the early 80s to the mid-90s, the food there is special. I try to get something to eat every time I am in the city. The first is a po'boy from the Parkway Bakery - I almost always get the fried oyster po'boy (dressed, of course), but the catfish po'boy is good, too. The other is the Ferdi from Mother's - it is a ginormous roll that is filled with baked ham, roast beef, gravy, and ‘debris' (bits of roast beef that fell into the gravy), and you might not want to order it if you are wearing nice clothes.

I am not sure they qualify as the "Ultimate Sandwich in the known galaxy," but they are worthy of gnawing on while you search for that US.

A good grilled cheese sandwich may not be the "Ultimate," either, but it a load of comfort....
