Hi,

i know this is in no way linux related but I'd like to discuss this matter with the community.

As most of you facebook users probably know, facebook has a feature that can mark places where you have been on a zoomable worldmap.
I like to travel and for me this feature was a neat way for showing my friends locations where I have been to.
I know that any personal data isn't save with fb, but I don't see a big threat if someone reveals where I have visited in the past.
Now since the "cronic" was modified again just recently, it seems that there's no way to delete any of the map markings anymore.
It used to be very easy to delete and modify any location, by just clicking the place marker and select "delete", "edit" or whatever

Am I just to blindsighted in the haystack of facebook pages, or is it true that users don't have the power anymore of what's in ther personal content? :?: :?:
I'm writing this because if I'm right and all our fb-maps are not to edit anymore, I want to give all of you a warning. What is your opinion about that? And I am not asking for answers like "Dude, you shouldn't have signed into facebook at the first place" or "You're obviously a careless person doing things like that" etc. !!

Thanks for reading :)

I've taught all my kids and my grandkids to never, ever use their real information online. I think there's a lesson in there.

As for fb and being able to list the places you've visited, mine would show quite a few hundred stops at *ahem* houses of ill repute, stretching from the North pole to the equator, all the way around the planet and down to the South pole.

I make sure to check in at all police stations I have to go to. None of my info is correct.
FB knows you cannot fix stupid is why they are a privacy thief.
Look at all the Windows users and viruses and you can see there are many clueless out there.

okay, so would you say that giving false information to FB, than no information at all, is any safer?
Any information they have on a person they'd still sell to a 3rd party, sooner or later.
I regret the map thing, but at least i kept my face (image-wise) out of the facebook abyss.

Thanks for your answers so far
