Good day,

I would like to find out, were can one get open source projects were one can contribute to and help out.

Debugging and fixing code.

Were can one get involved with kernel development.

You start by hanging around the project sites of the software you use the most.

Is it specifically coding you're into?

I am busy doing Python, I would like to help out and learn so that in the long run I can go in dept with Kernel Programming maybe.

Python? A lot of Mint's own software is written in Python, so I think you can help with development there if you wish. The repositories are at https://github.com/linuxmint/; look at the projects marked with "Python" tag.
