the "5-minute Essential Shell Tutorial"

Post by Mintstant Karma » Wed Mar 12, 2014 12:46 pm

I've just come from viewing the tutorial named above, located at http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/100, and just had to make one comment: Five-minute? :!: Sheesh, I don't think so; I spent something closer to half an hour there. I might have been able to read it all in five minutes (even that's doubtful). But I bow to the person who can absorb any more than a few tidbits of it in that time.

This reminds me of those online and phone surveys that begin with "this will just take a few minutes". Yeah, and it's a few hours from New York to Botswana.

Granted, I am a careful and methodical reader, and I was practicing a few of the terminal commands. But after all, that's how you learn, right? The tutorial was helpful and appreciated, by the way. :) Thank you 'justin'.

I'd have preferred to comment about this on the same page as the tutorial but couldn't, for the life of me, find a way to comment. Can anyone tell me? Someone's comment is marked as having been from six days ago, but I don't see how.

It's just a title to say it's a short introduction and that you will not know everything after reading it... There is often a second meaning to title
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

I have to register separately from my registration on these forums?

Yeah, obviously a second meaning in this case. Just like the word "literally" has come to mean anything you want it to. :x (Drifting word meanings are a pet peeve. They're central to the erosion of good communication and understanding.)

How about, "A brief introduction..." See how easy? :P
