I was thinking about running a linux Mint pc that could run something like plex or an Apache php website that is NOT connected to the internet.

Something where from home devices and PC family can un-select our internet provider wifi (comcast or WOW) and select a router (athome) which will have all our music and movies on it and back up files.

I want to keep the home network offline, but act as a server to play and select "Christmas theme music" for the surround sound in the kitchen for the wife, while the kids can select and play movies from there TVs.

Also that I will be adding more music and movies and stuff.

Anyone have any suggestions or I will have to build the Apache sever and website myself

Many time internet may go out, and I want to still run entertainment from my own 2nd wifi intranet that can be selected.

LOL I guess am back at freenas or plex again I get a new laptop in the morning so I be thinking of a strategic battle plan because I care not for iCloud looking towards MyCloud. I what control over all my media.

We had an ice storm last year and new people moving in the area and hacking routers is getting nuts. I use ddwrt buffalo routers so I been pretty good, except the one I forgot to change the default passwords :p after a power reset. (fixed since). So when internet foes out or teenagers are giving hell in the area I can disconnect and still run home movies and music and store game saves and games themselves.
