Having a laugh - take a look!

Post by Jedinovice » Fri Jul 03, 2015 12:22 am

OK, I like Japanese anime - don;t run away - hear me out.

I came across this scene and immediately uploaded it to my youtube page.

I was falling out of my seat with laughter. Coffee not recommended near keyboard when watching! :D

I just thought I'd share.

The anime is called 'Student's council discretion' (Seitokai no Ichizon) and is very funny! I was laughing out loud!
Just notes on content - there is no fan service in this comedy anime but there is a lot of talking about sexual matters, though it's done for pure comic effect. Nothing offensive but not appropriate for children. The central character joins the student council to turn it into his own personal harem - to general failure.

Other hysterical anime is 'Love chunibyo and other delusions" (Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai) Fine for all ages and, again, laugh out loud funny. I was watching this on my laptop, ill with typhoid, stuffed in a cramped car on an six hour journey and I was having hysterics!

I have uploaded a small, representative clip.

Have fun!

Maybe I am missing something here, but what is so funny about this? It's kinda boring to watch, if you ask me, which you don't. I'm telling you anyway.

Weeelll.... humor is subjective as well asbeing culturally specific. But, generally speaking, both anime's have been regarded by anime fans and beyond as hysterical.

But then, I was in the Cinema watching 'Dumb and dumber' and didn't find it funny at all but I have NEVER seen an audience so animated, so falling off their seats with hysterics. Not before or since.

The only Universal form of humor is silent comedy which is why "Mr Bean" has been a hit across the entire world. I know that if I want my students to laugh with an occasional video Mr Bean will work every time. I show them Harold Lloyd clips as well.

I agree. I was watching it going "Huh?". I'm guessing the male character taking his own life has something to do with the Japanese ritual of seppuku? I have no idea. I didnt even laugh :(

Well, I accept that, taking a certain way, the video could be seen as tear jerking/heart breaking.

[If you have to explain a joke it's no longer funny.]
