A big Thank You! to everyone who has taken the time and trouble to check their images and move to https!
Let's keep it going!

If you say so. But if Clem requests politely that we use https, why not do it? I can't think of any good reason to refuse.
Couldn't have said it any better myself... ;)

Fred Barclay wrote:G'day mates! Back after the events of February there was a big push for us to use https for all avatars and images. While this was mostly successful, time has passed and we're getting more and more images or avatars that are posted to http sites, rather than https sites.
Hey, Fred, when I went back to edit my original image, it is https-hosted. I can see it clearly in the image url. How did you determine that it was not, in fact, https?

As you can see, all is well...

Now, I'm going to go back and edit my original post with this new image.

It's all kind of a PITA any more, isn't it?

G'day Portreve. It wasn't the image that I messaged you about--that was definitely https. But your avatar did seem to be on an http server until a few hours ago when my system reported it as on https. Did you perhaps rehost it?
This was the original link. As you can see it's http:
http://s21.postimg.org/tbuwn2577/The_Portreve01.jpg

If you follow that link now it points to an https image, but previously it was http.

To answer your other question, in Pale Moon (and Firefox, I believe) you can click on the icon in the left side of the address bar, choose "More Information", and then select the "Media" tab. That will show you where every image on a web page originates from. :)

Too funny--I meant adherance.
But we should all 'stick' with https :P

A right click on an image such as an avatar, select "View Image Info" will give you the origin address of the image.
It will also give you the option of blocking an image from that address.

I know this is a really great idea and all, but I've had to change the address for the link to my avatar three times in as many weeks. I *finally* got Imigur to work, though it didn't really seem to want to at first. I even tried to use openmerchantaccount.com, but for me, it just sits there on the loading page and does *nothing*, even after clicking the links on that page, clicking them to open in another tab only gives me another landing page.
I'm sorry, it's just ticking me off that I have to keep changing the link, I had to get it off my chest.

When the page is not https (if a link with http is posted in the forum for example...) then your password is sent without encryption between your pc and the server.

Good catch. :) It wasn't there at the time - I'll edit my post.

EDIT to this post:
It's an expired certificate (expired four days ago). Probably just a temporary problem but I'll keep an eye on it.

Could you please force the s in the link on this page: ucp.php?i=ucp_profile&mode=avatar

Happy now?
It would have been, had the lousy site hadn't went down, causing me to look for another image hosting site!

Thanks
You could have used the same hosting site. You just had to force the s in the address. Imgur supports https.

I tried putting an 's' in the address, as you suggested. However, the site returned a response of "not found". So I went with this. Some things I like working with to find a solution, especially if there's a terrific reward. In this case, I switched, rather than fought with a site that apparently didn't like me or my image,
In any case, it's HTTPS now.:)...
At least, until the site goes down AGAIN.

Cosmo. wrote:I agree also, but I have not a good expectation, if this thread will help. I can see here with one view, if a user uses content (avatars) via a not secured connection (they get automatically blocked here and I get a notice instead) and I am astonished, how many even veteran users still provide their content via http.
I was just informed by Killer de Bug that my avatar also used http. I had no idea. I see my avatar just fine. I have no idea what you all saw but I saw my little girl and had no idea something was wrong.
But I changed it so hopefully things are okay now.
