Go to the EOC page and click my name to view my stats. Started running my 6 gig 1060 on 5/6. Mine is the MSI version. Runs 1925 clock on average.

Greerd is running a bit shy of me, but he is running a gtx970 as well as an i7. Raiders runs neck-n-neck with my 1060, but he also runs a ryzen as well. I dont run a cpu,my FX chip isnt worth the power.

Using this
https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphi ... -1060-mini

Bought for £220 off CCL. Was thinking about water cooling the GPU, as it does seem to be thermal throttling. it did 390K PPD after install, now dropped to 320K PPD.

It will fluctuate with the WUs. Some projects score better than others. Just let it run.

Seems like for the cost of that card and some water cooling, you might as well have just bought a gtx 1070 instead. The 1060 you got has a single fan and smaller form factor. Mine is a full size card with dual fans. Your clocks may get limited compared to mine. Like I said mine is running 1925-1975 on the clock and you can see my stats on EOC.

That dgree of variation can be normal from one WU to the next.

I would read this post before deciding to spend your money.

I have the Raijintek Triton pump and radiator from my previous build, where I had the 980 and 4790K running in a very cramped case.. Temps maxed out at 50.C, in a case this size.

Image

I'm pretty sure the stock cooler on my 1060 is thermal throttling, PPD increases when I increase the GPU fan and increase airflow around the GPU. My 980 averaged 420K PPD, with the 1060 been slightly slower, I should be averaging around 390K PPD, so something is a miss.

I think this thread needs to be made sticky as it is a current and ongoing topic and as such will bring it to the attention of more potential folders. If one of the mods could see his way to sort this for us, I think we all would be grateful.

Hi all,
I have been trying to get a signature like some of you and it has taken most of the day, but I think that I have now got it sorted. I am only writing this just to see if it works. It looks a bit small and the text is not too easy to read, but I will submit it and see how it looks.

I see that "Dvoraks Ninth" in the charts has just started to drop back a bit from us. Onwards and upwards

I was searching around today, looking for some gpu conky commands and found this command set that could be useful as far as gpu slowdown.

Code: Select all

LazyDev ,

thank you very much for the code. As you can see it is working well now. Nearly the same layout as other folders, but happy with that.

I keep failing to get a work unit. Same thing as folks are posting on FAH forum. I have to delete my slot and make a new slot to get a WU. After that WU completes, it goes back to the bad server and faults.

https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=30023

the guy with 14 billion points is complaining too. :D So a fix should come soon.

when I got up this morning at 07-30, I knew that the folding computer had stopped folding, just by the sound of it. I shut everything down and then started up again. Folding started immediately.

It was strange not to hear the fans singing on the computer as it has been running about a month now non stop. Hope its just a glitch, but I will keep an ear on the machine today.

Yeah not getting GPU units. Still getting CPU units. ANyone with an AMD card have the same issue? Maybe open CL still works and not CUDA?

Yep..same here. Woke up to attempting to get next WU in xx minutes. Shut whole thing down and restarted. Needed to clean my air filter and blow the case out anyway. Seems to be working normally now.
